un/braid

Per-app split tunneling for AndroidEvery app, its own exit.

un/braid sends each Android app through a different VPN exit, at the same time, even through different providers. Many VPN apps let you choose VPN or no VPN per app. un/braid also gives each app its own country and provider.

Bring your own VPN. Use a subscription you already have, or your own server. un/braid provides no VPN servers.

One Android VPN connection. Three providers, three exits, at once. Example configuration.

The app, screen by screen

Everything happens in five screens.

  1. 01 · Routes

One default route. Exceptions where you need them.

Send all your apps through one exit, then move the ones you choose somewhere else. Each route can use a different provider: here Proton VPN for the Netherlands, NordVPN for the United States and Italy.

Routes screen: protected; the Netherlands through Proton VPN Free for 83 apps, Chrome and YouTube through NordVPN in New York, Maps and Gmail through NordVPN in Milan, Photos direct.
  2. 02 · Apps

Every app shows where it goes.

Search or filter the app list. Tap an app, then choose its route. Set an app to Direct and it uses your normal connection.

Apps screen: each app shows its exit, IT, US, NL or Direct, with filters by exit.
  3. 03 · Locations

Choose a provider and a place.

Pick a country, a city or one server from a supported provider, or let un/braid choose. Starred places stay on top.

Choose a location: provider NordVPN, protocol NordLynx, Fastest anywhere, favourite countries.
  4. 04 · Stats

    Usage and speed tests.

Data per app, exit and provider, app flows and tunnels. Recording is off until you turn it on, and stays on your phone. Speed tests use M-Lab, which publishes results after you agree.

Stats: usage this week split by provider, live speed, app flows into four exits, time protected and tunnel speeds.
  5. 05 · Settings

    Settings, grouped.

Providers, Tailscale, home access, DNS and blocking, statistics. Each section shows how it’s set.

Settings: providers and servers, Tailscale, local and home access, VPN behaviour, DNS and filtering, statistics, about and support.

Several providers. At the same time.

Some apps through NordVPN, others through Mullvad or Proton VPN, a streaming app through your router at home. Every route picks its own provider.
